We do it for the tail wag
When we were approached to assist the Dogs’ Refuge Home with some workplace documents, how could we say no?
The Dogs’ Refuge Home in Shenton Park saves hundreds of unwanted, neglected, abandoned and abused dogs every year. As dog owners ourselves it’s a charity close to our hearts, so we were happy to volunteer our time to assist their cause.
The Home has around 100 dogs in their care at any given time, each desperate for a second chance at a happy life. If you’re thinking of adding a furry friend to your family, we heartily encourage you to talk to their helpful staff before going to a pet shop, because rescue is the best breed!
Why adopt?
- You’ll be saving a life. Potentially more than one, by making room in the shelter for another rescue animal.
- You can find a dog to fit your unique personality and lifestyle.
- Adopting from Shelters rather than pet stores means knowing that you are not supporting cruel ‘puppy farms’.
- Because it’s good for you. Numerous studies have shown pets are psychologically, emotionally and physically beneficial to their companions.
It’s not all about adoption, as the Dogs’ Refuge Home also offers inner-city boarding services in Shenton Park should you need accommodation for your furred friend while travelling for your next work trip or holiday.
See their website www.dogshome.org.au for information on their services, to volunteer your time, make a donation or browse the dogs currently available for adoption.
